The villa stands in the countryside of the Iblean plateau, beneath a sky so low you can almost touch it, nestled amongst the white dry-stone walls adorned with olive and carob trees. The idea was to create a simple yet evocative shape, rich in meaning and imagery: the outline of a roof. And then to extend it, generating a dynamic axis along which to arrange volumes, materials and light. Around this broken line, solids, voids, volumes and slabs dance, but above all colours and materials such as wood and water, contained within an infinity pool in the entrance garden. Everything is in balance with the whole, and each architectural element is like an instrument in an orchestra, which reaches its full expression only when it harmonises with the others. Thus, the entrance staircase, the swimming pool, the portico… not only stand out as objects with a strong character, proportioned in their individuality and capable of communicating their function, but above all they interact with one another, giving rise to a harmonious whole and a welcoming, extraordinary backdrop.
Villa LC
An architecture that draws on the archetype of the home – the pitched roof, just as we might have drawn it as children – which slopes down to the ground and creates a dramatic entrance that welcomes guests, culminating in a pool of water in which an upside-down world is reflected.
